How To Install A Ceiling Fan?
Now here is the Ceiling Fan Installation Guide that will guide you with utmost safe and successful manner. We know that you will need guidance in this quest of yours and so, we will provide you with the Ceiling Fan Installation Instructions but firstly, take a read the following Tips to Install Ceiling Fan.
1. Check all the power outlet panels and switchboards-
Make sure that before starting with anything, you have ensured that there is no current supply to the ceiling box. Use a tester to ensure the loss of current even after you have switched off the buttons. The junction box should have enough ratings to provide to a ceiling fan. Just check the inscription that you see on the metal box. If the ceiling box has an insufficient rating to support the weight of a ceiling fan, then buy a new ceiling box and fan brace that is compatible with ceiling fans between the joists.
2. Mounting the ceiling box-
Push the fan brace into the sheetrock hole and insert it further onto the ceiling. When the hole is being entered, make sure you also enter the square tube of the brace tube along with it. Now, turn the square tube constantly till you feel that the square tube’s teeth are securely interlocked with the joist. To ensure this, feel the tightness of the lock with your hands. The fan brace is at the centre of the hole and faces downwards, connecting the U- bolt with the fan brace. Now all that is left to do is thread your cable into the ceiling box and encase it, post which you will have to insert nuts and screw them tightly to keep the ceiling box immovable and firm at its place.
3. Mounting of the bracket-
Now, the centre point of the mount bracket will take in the wires; you have to ease them through the center. In case you are working with a slide- on the bracket, the bracket of the fan will have to go over the mount screws and leave the mount bolts be. Tighten the screws securely. In case there is no slide-on-bracket, the bracket has to go over the bolts that should be poking through the bracket.
4. Setting the down rod-
Take the help of a flat plane and slide the canopy against the down rod of the fan. Then, run the wires through it. Insert the several pins in the downrod to connect it with the base of the fan. The bulb- shape fixture of the fan goes on the top of the downrod and toward the bracket and onto the ceiling.
5. Wiring the fan-
Form a connection between the wiring of the fan and the main wiring. Do check the user manual of the fan as some fans come along with specific wires. Use the wire nuts that must have come with your fan to place the wires in place. Remember that the copper wire is connected with the ground wire and the black wire is connected with the supply’s black cord. The fan’s wires also are to be connected with the supply’s black wires. The white wire of the fan is to be connected with the supply’s white wire or the neutral wire.
After these wires are connected, shove them in the ceiling box. If excess wires are coming out of the ceiling box, just cut them using a wire cutter.
6. Attaching the bulb and blades-
With some fans, installation is effortless and it happens very fast with quick- install blades. Align the arm post using the keyhole slots and then push them lightly in the outward direction so that they click and get locked in the right place. Fans that don’t have quick- installing blades, attach the blades on the blade arms. The prettier side of the blade should face toward the floor. When the fan doesn’t have the abovementioned brackets, then you will have to fasten the assembly of the blade and the motor together using two screws.
Make sure that you shove the screws slowly into the blades without harming their form and shine. If your fan kit comes with a light bulb and globe, then install them too. After this is done, turn the power on and check that all your fan remotes and controls are working fine.
Before you start with the installation, make sure to check out these Ceiling Fan Installation Instructions for sure. Inspect the ceiling where you plan to install the fan. It is also imperative that in case you are installing the fan where there wasn’t any, you ask the building code management if it allowed installing a fan there. Use a testing device, check if the turned off electrical panel is entirely safe to work on the fan installation.
